REQUEST FOR APPLICATIONS:
HUMAN TRAFFICKING INTERVENTION: A TRAINING FOR MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

Overview

The Louisiana Department of Health and the Office of Human Trafficking Prevention want to see more clinicians trained in recognizing signs of human trafficking and in adapting trauma interventions to better meet the needs of trafficking survivors. For this reason, The Center for Evidence to Practice is offering both an Introductory Training (Human Trafficking Intervention: A Training for Mental Health Professionals) and two deeper-dive trainings for EMDR and TF-CBT clinicians. The deeper-dive/advanced trainings (two separate trainings) speak to the modules for each intervention and how to adapt them to better meet the needs of survivors of human trafficking.

We strongly encourage all clinicians who are working with LA Medicaid youth to take the Introductory training. Because this training is also a prerequisite for the two deeper-dive trainings, we are now offering it in a recorded format. If you have not already attended one of the live virtual trainings or the in-person trainings, then you can satisfy the prerequisite training requirement for the advanced trainings by viewing the recording of the training.

There is still time to sign up for either or both of the deeper-dive trainings. You are eligible to attend the deeper-dive trainings if you meet the following requirements outlined below.

INTRODUCTORY Training Acceptance Criteria: Qualified behavioral health agencies/providers will be those who serve Medicaid-insured individuals and/or provide clinical therapy services to children and their caregivers in Louisiana free of charge; are licensed (or actively working towards licensure); and are actively (currently) treating children and their caregivers.

ADVANCED Training Acceptance Criteria: Same qualifications listed above. Additionally, those that are EMDR Basic-Trained, EMDR Certified, and/or TF-CBT Certified for those respective training topics. It is also open to clinicians who are in progress towards becoming EMDR Basic-Trained and/or TF-CBT Certified. You must be able to access and submit your EBP certification documentation if accepted into this training opportunity.

The Introduction to Human Trafficking Intervention: A Training for Mental Health Professionals course is now accessible on our E2P:Learn platform. You can create an E2P:Learn account and enroll in the course for FREE (if you already have an account, you can access your existing account and self-enroll in this course).

This FREE online course has been pre-approved for continuing education (CE) hours. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate for 2.75 CE hours. This course is a prerequisite and MANDATORY for individuals who have not previously completed the virtual or in-person introductory training opportunity and would like to participate in this advanced EMDR and/or TF-CBT training opportunity.

There will be no cost to agencies for the course itself; however, agencies must financially commit to the time and effort required to complete the training.
